Product Description

The 2.0 megapixel Canon PowerShot A60 is ideal for home and family users who expect versatility, excellent image quality and high-specification from their digital camera at an affordable price. The advanced features on this model mean users can practice and expand their knowledge of photography without worrying about upgrading their camera too quickly. Canon PowerShot A60 is styled with an aluminum front cover and colored metallic handgrips. A new mode dial (the same one found on Canon's EOS SLR range) gives easy access to the cameras' 12 shooting modes, including a range of subject based auto modes and a movie mode. Also included are manual aperture priority and shutter priority exposure modes. These modes are supported by a metering system that boasts evaluative, center weighted average and spot options. Canon PowerShot A60 is equipped with a 35-105mm f/2.8-4.8 3x optical zoom lens, making them ideal for taking photographs at any occasion. Canon's DIGIC (DIGital Imaging Core) processor ensures excellent color rendition and white balance for every shot. This high-powered processor delivers super fast autofocusing, noise-free imaging and advanced flash exposure performance. The camera's specification is further enhanced by Canon's five point AiAF (Artificial intelligence Auto Focus) system for focusing accuracy and shutter speeds of 15-1/2000sec.

I have had this camera six months and taken over a hundred pictures with it. It is extremely easy to use, especially with the fast start directions. Also, it is not too hard on batteries and does use the rechargeables. The optical viewing is great. My only complaint is that, on long shots using the zoom, only one person or object will truly be in focus. Someone standing 5 feet away, not on the same plane, will not be. Still, considering the amenities, and for the price, this is an excellent value.

Positives: - Compact - Easy to use - You can attach a whide range of lenses to it. - It hides the lense automatically while letting you work with the LCD menu or stay connected to a computer. - Customizeable themes (sounds, images) I don't think there is anything better for the price even though you can find some 3.0 megapixels in the same range. Negatives: The power adapter is not included, though the manual recommends to use it when connecting to a computer. The driver conflicts with (my) scanner driver. I hope it's not a common problem for all scanners/cameras. ;) Some features require reading the manual. Duh!

I have now owned this camera for about 2 months and have shot over 300 pictures during that time. This is the 3rd digital camera I have owned. I got this one because of size (very compact)and as a backup to my other camera (Fuji S602). The small size makes this a very easy camera to travel with.

The only, and I really mean only, negative on this camera is that it is not a 3 or 4 megapixel camera. BUT, and that is a really big BUT, for 95% of the pictures I take and for what most people take, 1 or 2 megapixels is all they need. The color is fully saturated, well captured, and gives the operator of the camera all the manual controls needed by most advanced amatuers. That includes shutter priority, aperture priority, and full manual control of both aperture and shutter.

It is a pleasure to use and very easy to figure out. Time between shots is reasonably short and the time delay between pressing (and holding) the shutter button and actually taking the picture is very short. The camera uses AA batteries which is a real plus if you travel a lot.

My rating of this camera as a 10 is based upon its overal general usability, ease of use, size, responsiveness, quickness, of use, relative price for the features provided, and picture quality
