12/8/2007 2:39:21 PM A great, inexpensive, networked printer that's worked flawlessly for a few months under GNU/Linux. Being able to plug the printer into a network hub makes printer sharing a snap. We had to set up DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol) to assign the printer an IP address. This is an intermediate-level system task, but needs to be done only once, and is quick if you know what you're doing. (The printer starts up with a usable IP address, but it takes trickery of a different sort to discover this address. Under Windows the process is presumably automatic and transparent.) |

Buying Tips
- Confirm all merchandise and price information with the vendor, including the model (whether it is a US or non-US model), the condition of the product (whether it is new, refurbished or remanufactured), what accessories are included and what the warranty covers.
