The Secure Digital (SD) Card is a highly secure, stamp-sized flash memory card. It can be used in a variety of digital products, including SD-enabled digital music players, cellular phones, handheld PCs, digital cameras, digital video camcorders, smart phones, car navigation systems and electronic books. The SD card offers cryptographic security for copyrighted data based on proven security concepts from DVD audio. It even has a user selectable mechanical write protect switch on the exterior card casing for added protection. It also features high transfer rates for fast copy and download, as well as a high storage capacity. This non-volatile, solid-state memory is incredibly stable. With no moving parts, SD cards maximize battery power and data is not lost when the power is turned off. Its operating shock rating of 2,000Gs is equivalent to a 10-foot drop to the floor. What's more, newer devices with SD Card slots will also accept existing MultiMediaCards, ensuring wide compatibility.
