3 Percent Decline in Intel Core 2 Quad Index Last Week
PriceSCAN Vice President of Financial Products Daniel Fehder commented that the Intel Core 2 Quad posted a 3% decline last week. In February and March, the index remained very stable and produced only a 1% decline in that 8 week period after very heavy discounting in January.
Jeff Trester, PriceSCAN Co-CEO and Chief Economist, noted, “The softening in the price of the Intel Core 2 Quad microprocessor, obviously a critical component of many personal computers, may reflect further weakening in the PC market. We’ve been observing some signs of technology price stabilization recently, but a new leg down in processor prices would place early signs of a tech recovery in doubt. It seems we’re not out of the woods yet.”
