PriceSCAN Press Release
PriceSCAN Vice President of Financial Products Daniel Fehder commented that the Digital Camera – 12MP Index has fallen only 3% since its inception in 10/6/2008. In comparision, the Digital Camera – 8MP Index fell 30% in the first 230 days
Jeff Trester, PriceSCAN Co-CEO and Chief Economist, noted, “Unlike the post-release price action of 8 MP when that resolution was state-of-the-art, 12 MP is displaying a price stability all the more impressive in light of the weak retail environment. This may be due to less aggressive initial pricing on 12 MP cameras motivated by an anemic economy; additionally, 12 MP may be sufficiently higher then resolutions available in the current generation of cell phones as to avoid competitive pressure from that alternative.”
