LCD TV – 20 - 29 Inch Index Rises above End of 2008 Levels for The Second Time in 2009

PriceSCAN Vice President of Financial Products Daniel Fehder commented that the LCD TV – 20 - 29 Inch Index has seen an increase over the past two weeks that has pushed it again above the price levels seen at the end of 2008.

Jeff Trester, PriceSCAN Co-CEO and Chief Economist, noted, “The recovery of smaller, more affordable LCD televisions to end of 2008 prices indicates some strength in the budget-constrained consumer’s demand for less costly electronics. Seen in the context of recent price firming for Blu-ray players, wireless routers, and digital camcorders, this is one more piece of evidence that, at least for the moment, some combination of retail purchases and vendor restocking is pulling the consumer technology market out of freefall.”
