PriceSCAN Press Release
PriceSCAN Vice President of Financial Products Daniel Fehder commented that our LCD 50 Index has dropped 6% since the beginning of October, but the Sharp component of our index has seen a 12% decline over the same period.
Jeff Trester, PriceSCAN Co-CEO and Chief Economist, noted, “In an LCD market that’s showing rapid overall price deterioration, it appears some brands are being marked down more quickly so as to preserve a competitive position at the low end of the price range. The greater price cuts for Sharp screens may be an example of getting ahead of the curve, and a harbinger of things to come for LCDs in general.”
